HOTEL_San_Diego

Working as primarily a location photographer I end up spending a lot of nights in hotels throughout the year. Some are better than others and I am by no means a 'hotel snob' (m/hotels that I have spent my fair share of nights in often have numbers in their names such as "Familiar Name 6" or the "Slightly More Expensive 8"), but when a good one comes along it is a true pleasure. Since we do spend so many nights in hotels I will continue to post the views that we are seeing from them so if you are snuggled nightly in to your own comfy bed you can live vicariously through us as we drop quarters into our vibrating beds.

I am a fan of most everything mid-century modern and the exterior facade of this hotel on the waterfront in San Diego Harbor was right on the money. I had the city view from my room (nothing to complain about for sure!), but I'd imagine that looking out the other way to the water would have been pretty cool too.

Pacific_University

Have you ever been for Forest Grove, Oregon? I hadn't either until we were out there this week to help update the photography for Pacific University's marketing materials with a series of environmental portraits of student's, faculty, & alumni. It's a gorgeous campus in what feels like "small town America" - the kind of place you'd love to catch a parade in the summer while eating a stick of corn on the cob. Thanks to Duane and Eric from Michael Patrick Partners for their creative vision and Colin, Karen and Barb for hosting us during the fun week on campus. I have posted some of the outtakes here and hopefully we can get some of the finished images up once the pieces drop.

Oregon_Health_Science_University

We were shooting a new cover today for Medical Economics Magazine featuring a physician at Oregon Health Sciences University here in Portland. Can you tell who is the Doc and who is the Super Bad Ass Assistant?

Steamboat_Springs

If you're a skier you know that Steamboat Springs, Colorado is the unofficial (or official, depending on who you ask) home of the most epic powder skiing around and I'd been psyched for months about the SmartWool winter shoot knowing that we'd be cat skiing in the backcountry for one of the days. Unfortunately we didn't end up getting the "brochure quality" weather conditions that we'd hoped and planned for and it was a blizzard when we wanted bluebird skies, our hockey rink turned into a slush pool when we needed it cold and it was actually raining when we touched down at the airport. That said, we still produced some great new images for the brand (and we still have some shots to come back for in the future!) Here are a few of my favorite outtakes from the week. Yes, you can get Fat Tire in a can! Thanks to Garret, Carol, Jen and Jen from SmartWool; Byron and his production crew from Colorado Bike and Ski Tours and the ski guides from Steamboat Powdercats for hosting us for the week.
