HOTEL_Tacoma

The Hotel Murano in Tacoma is by far the nicest hotel I have stayed in in a long time. On a clear day the view of Mt. Rainier is amazing and Tacoma being something of an epicenter for the art of glass blowing, the hotel features a different artist on each floor that is truly worth seeing. My favorite part though is the bedside lamps that have dimable nightlights in the purple base.

Sorel_Super_8

Thanks to Matthew Miadich from the Sorel team who shot this great Super 8 footage while were were on location at Timberline Lodge. I love the artistic (ie - super gritty and unpolished or better said not sharp, not pixelated, not digital) feel of this type of motion capture and feel like we were all characters in The Wonder Years.

Timberline_Lodge_Oregon

I was seriously sweating about this winter themed shoot for Sorel for the entire 10 days that I could get a weather forecast beforehand. The location was in and around Timberline Lodge up on Mt. Hood - an amazing spot for a shoot rich with great views of the Cascade Range and lots of history. The lodge sees hundreds of shoots a year and I was psyched to finally have a chance to work there myself. However, April is still a time of pretty unpredictable weather and although we were just down the road shooting some road biking a few days ago under the clearest of blue skies, the forecast wasn't looking all that good and I was worried about the crew and talent even getting up there (the mountain gets nearly 500 inches of annual snowfall!) We did though and it turned out to be a gem of a day there with an even mix of sun and fog. Thanks to Katherine and Dan from Sorel, Casey and Joey for your great styling work, Bo as always for keeping me sane, and Rhonda for looking after us. Thanks also to the great talent of Madeline, Tai, Grant and Elle. Hopefully we can get some of the finished work up here once they go to print.

Mt._Hood_Oregon

Up at Timberline Lodge area today on Mt. Hood looking for deep snow piled up along a paved road for some early spring road cycling images for SmartWool. The Art Director wasn't able to make it out for the shoot and you've gotta' love the iPhone's capability to snap a quick shot of the monitor and the ease of emailing off to the client for review. Thanks to my my crew for not getting hit by any of the 40+ cars who passed our set at 50mph, to Rhonda at Timberline for her help with the permits and mad Props to Dan for cranking the pedals at altitude and navigating a busy and gravel covered road on his 23c's.

Seattle

Quick turn around from sunny San Diego to rainy Seattle for a day of shooting in the studio with Moving Comfort. Most of what we were doing was on body product shots for the web and their catalog that we did in an impromptu studio in their offices, but they had these amazing wall colors that reflect the fun and vibrant personalty of their brand and so I captured a few more animated images as well.

San_Diego

We had a last minute location change on the Moving Comfort shoot this spring from Seattle to San Diego after seeing that the weather was not looking very favorable up in the NW (and it was a good call too as it poured rain in Seattle during the days we ended up shooting). Thank to Liz, Sara and Rachel for pulling it all together in a short amount of time. We got some great new images for the brand and had a great time in the process. I love shooting in San Diego - it is one of the most film friendly locations and you can pretty much count on the weather always cooperating.
